Brick pavers are commonly used, and they are generally made of clay. They are popular because of their durability, and you can choose from different colors. You could create a pattern using bricks that are of contrasting colors.

Place landscape lighting on each side of the pathway. This not only adds beauty, but you can walk to your garden safely at night.
